Now that we have HSFX V4 and the latest SEOW release from Shades, its time to think about this more:-
Quote:
JUNE 4th 1942 Multi-sector Campaign

Status:- HSFXv4 is released and 4Shades has just released a wonderful new SEOW update to support it.

All of the required sectors have been added to the MP ( PA_Dore, Gross, Brigstock & Chap).

The templates are 'roughly' populated and now we have to finalise the servers (ITAL_SEOW, 69GvIAP and 102nd_COOP), initialise the templates and begin to run the necessary tests.

OUTLINE

The design is for a 'multi theatre' 'multi sector' campaign.

The plan is to run three missions a week at peak times (with large turnout , hopefully 80 + participants. AND 3 missions a week with smaller turnouts in the less 'active' sectors.

The peak time missions are most likely to co-inside with CET (this is a practicality) whilst the less active missions can be scheduled to give everyone that cannot usually make these times a chance to also participate.

We hope to run the campaign for 6 months. (24 missions per sector total)

JUNE 4th 1942
is the chosen start time because both sides are fairly evenly matched in most theatres and there is also huge variety of aircraft...there is a historical reason also:-

THEATRES

PACIFIC (design by 242Sqn_Cat & Chap )

Midway Expanded The Slot
Hawaii and Philippines as time skipped production areas

June 4th of course is the beginning of the epic battle of Midway.
Midway expanded allows us to recreate this at almost full scale for the first time (with a host of new IJN carriers).

The Slot is relatively unpopulated at the start. The direction the Pacific Theatre takes will depend upon the result of Midway.
IJN invasion will halt the supply of US lend lease to the Eastfront and allow Strategic bombing of Hawaii.
US victory will allow a progression into TheSlot

THE EASTFRONT (design by Brandle)

Crimea Kuban

Initial action is focused upon the Crimea with production coming from the Kuban. Action will move depending upon the results of the Axis offensive. Brandle can embellish details but expect the Eastfront to be an extremely hard fought ground war with proper emphasis upon the AxisAllied contingents that flew there.

Timeskipped production centres:-

Channel 1940 & ITAFrGR provide the production capability of the Western Allies, German and AxisAllied contingents. The Axis commanders have to decide how to distribute their limited resources between TheMed and the Eastfront.

THE MEDITERRANEAN (design by 242Sqn_Chap)

Centmed Libya

June 4th is about 10 days into the Gazala offensive in North Africa and also when the most bloody convoy battles to Malta occurred.

The Allies have to supply Malta and prevent the fall of Tobruk.
The Axis have to prevent Allied Supply from reaching Malta and protect their own convoys to North Africa so that Rommel has the resources to capture Tobruk.
(Supply to Lybia has to shipped across an expanded Centmed and may not be simply transferred.)

Bombing Supply Areas
There is a mechanism for Strategic bombing (and interception of such) into the supply sectors.

This is probably enough detail to give you a good overview.

Squads that are interested should contact 22GCT_Gross ASAP so that we can try and arrange the times/theatres/sectors and squad responsibilities etc etc.

This of course requires a fair amount of organisation, the more that we all know , the earlier we know it , the more likely it is that we can arrange participation in a way that will 'maximise utility'.

Long term I know...maximum pleasure, for as many people as possible I believe is the Utilitarian principle of 'maximise Utility'.

FINAL THOUGHT

The intention is SIMULATION and NOT COMPETITION.
Overly competitive individuals should play Chess and not SEOW as they are in no way similar.
Chess is a perfectly balanced competitive game,
SEOW is the ultimate 'MP mission generator', that also adds context and depth to IL2 flight simulation.

This can be the ultimate in Simulation and Immersion if you get a bunch of amicable and like-minded people involved.

Competitive people however will quickly create bad feeling, untold arguments, work for the admins and can potentially turn what can be great experience into something thoroughly unpleasant.

Please pm 22GCT_Gross (or drop into 22GCT forums) and we can try and get an idea of interests, optimum days and times etc.

Can interested squads please check this link at SeowHQ and respond to 22GCTGross to help us with the organisation.

Hooray ! Thumbs Up Cheers

242 Flyers, we will have to give some thought as to which side we fly for. Were probably assuming we fly Allied, but depending on how equal the numbers are, maybe we should consider Axis, if the Axis is short on numbers.

There are some new and really interesting aircraft in both the Axis and Allies, so given the choice, I'd fly for either side. Smile

For 242 members and anyone who wants to fly this campaign with us.

22GCTGross has published a form for each Squadron to complete, to enter the Campaign and get information on each Squadron's participation. (Wise move)

I'll complete and send in the form. But I need to find out ; how many people will be flying in this Campaign with 242 squadron. Please post below if your interested.

There will be 6 missions a week. We won't be flying all of them of course, but we need to pick a couple of days and times that would be good for us. I assume Gross will be taking all the requests and working out times and dates that fit with a majority of people.

I need to give an estimate for the number of people flying. I realize that people won't be able to make every mission, real life will interfere. But in general who would be interested in flying this campaign. We will be allocated only so many slots.

People will show up from time to time to fly with us, we will accommodate everyone we can, but we will give priority to the people that have registered.

The Campaign is open to all Squads and this has been posted on the Scorched Earth forums and other forums. There is a lot of interest and they're expecting 70 -80 people per mission.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But for each person who wants to fly in the Campaign.

1.) What day(s) and times are good for you ?

2.) I was going to say were interested in flying on each front - Pacific Front, Eastern Front and Mediterranean Front. Which fronts do you want to fly in ?

3.) What is your preference, Allied or Axis ?

4.) Would you volunteer for any of the following responsibilities,

A) Administration campaign support
B) Overall army commander (organization level)
C) Overall army executive commander (strategical level)
D) Map commander (Tactical)
E) Mission planner

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) For myself, 2-3 times a week.

I'm pretty flexible but these are just suggested times ;

Sundays @ 8:00 or 9:00 pm UK Time.
Tuesdays @ 8:00 or 9:00 pm UK Time.
Fridays @ 8:00 or 9:00 pm UK Time.

2) All Fronts.

3) No real preference, Allied if the numbers are balanced, if un-balanced on which ever side is un-balanced.

4) I will wait to see the other answers, but if no one else volunteers, I may volunteer to be a mission planner for 242.

Hi all!

Sounds great! I am sure the 102nd will join in.
Preliminary I can say maybe 10 pilots.

A question: is it possible for one squadron to play (for example) as axis in the pacific and as allies on the eastern front?

I will get back to Gross with the form as soon as we get some consensus in the 102nd about days and other stuff.

Cheers

Sounds great, will try to make it, although as you all know it's challenging with my work being in shifts. Still pacific campaign sounds like good fun and I will fly anything, don't matter which sides.

btw, just installed V4.. hadn't had a change to really look at it.. but loading is fast and the installation was a pure dream, it worked right out of the box and it was a pleasure to install.

hope to fix the posters asap and have them up, along with some pictures of real WWII planes and the like.

S~ happy

No question of wanting to fly, just all the nasty real-life-duties disturbing my determination ... what tales could have been told without the need to earn money, raise up kids, clean my teeth ... Brick Wall

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.) What day(s) and times are good for you ?

Evenings, from 21:00 GMT+1 on, max 1 - 2 fix a week, maybe one or two additional quickies by luck and chance.

2.) I was going to say were interested in flying on each front - Pacific Front, Eastern Front and Mediterranean Front. Which fronts do you want to fly in ?

Doesn't really matter, as long as I'm flying twins as bombers, recon or transport. A slight preference for Russia.

3.) What is your preference, Allied or Axis ?

I prefer to fly for the Allies with Axis planes Razz - not really important, as long as can fly twins (a Ju 88, please?)

4.) Would you volunteer for any of the following responsibilities,

A) Administration campaign support
B) Overall army commander (organization level)
C) Overall army executive commander (strategical level)
D) Map commander (Tactical)
E) Mission planner

One mission-planning-phase per week and per scenario? Doing this will cost an evening as a pilot, but if we are in need, I'd assist a person doing C) and work in position D).

Greetings, Ulrich

PS: I very much hope, my actual project will keep away new projects from my neck until next spring, else ... Crying or Very sad

I'm in!
1.) What day(s) and times are good for you ?
Whenever the other half isn't working late.

2.) I was going to say were interested in flying on each front - Pacific Front, Eastern Front and Mediterranean Front. Which fronts do you want to fly in ?
All or any.

3.) What is your preference, Allied or Axis ?
Either.

4.) Would you volunteer for any of the following responsibilities,

A) Administration campaign support
B) Overall army commander (organization level)
C) Overall army executive commander (strategical level)
D) Map commander (Tactical)
E) Mission planner

Only A) as I couldn't guarantee to be permanently available. Definitely barred from anything regarding Midway as I'm making the template.

Looking forward to it. Thumbs Up

Cheers

Ok good info guys, I think Russ/Beaver will join us on occasions as well. I'm thinking of asking for 4-5 slots. I think that's probably in the right range.

The best place for the HQ's this time around was quite obviously SeowHQ.

http://seowhq.net/seowhqforum/index.php

June 1942 Forums

So can anybody that would like to have some kind of planning responsibility (or anyone that is just interested, please register there with 4Shades. )

There are a LOT of people looking to be involved and the groups must decide how best to divide up responsibilities between themselves within those forums.
